“If I could choose only one author for each romance subgenre, which ones would I choose?” Crazy question, right? Why on earth would I ask myself that? So cruel! Some say it’s impossible to choose one favorite book, so I decided to pick authors that I believe have outstanding books. I classified them according to the genres I read the most. Some are well-known, others not so much. These are the top authors on my auto buy list : Historical Romance I have a soft spot for Julia Quinn because the first HRs I read was The Duke and I, and I devoured The Bridgeton Series. But Eloisa James seriously took the game to another level in my opinion. You should try her Fairy Tale series, even if you’re not a big fan of historicals. Paranormal Kresley Cole’s Immortals After Dark is my favorite series so far. She’s incredibly talented and knows how to plot her books with excellence. They’re intense, seriously hot, full of surprises and with a bit of fun. She also has an outstanding dystopian YA called The Arcana Chronicles that I highly recommend. “It’s the Age of the Geek, baby. We run the world!” — Alec Hardison, Leverage I’ve been a geek for years… way, way before this “Age of the Geek” was ushered in. I collected Akira and Dark Knight comics in high school, watched anime (anybody else remember Robotech? I used to rush home to watch it as a kid!). I played video games on consoles and on desktops. My friends and I could have entire conversations in movie quotes: Monty Python, Real Genius, Dr. Strangelove, you name it. I went to midnight animation festivals.  San Diego, where I grew up, had the Spike & Mike fest, where I got to see the first Pixar shorts before Pixar was even a “thing”.  When Lord of the Rings came out, I called in sick to work and saw it in the theater. Twice.  In one day. My other obsession: romance novels. I also started reading romance novels in high school.  I got a job in the local branch library, shelving books, and I was fascinated by the novels I was putting away.
