Welcome to Books & Crafts, a craft circle composed of book bloggers, a sporadic meme where we share our other creative pursuits aside from reading and blogging. Everyone is welcome to join, just add your tag/label links below and you’re good to go!

PS: No set day on this–I am going to try post at least every other week πŸ™‚

I have howeverΒ  in the middle of a few projects—some have gone well, others are going slow (Pancho I am looking at you)…..

Geek Sign

This project is both hit/miss. This board was really in bad shape so I decided to paint it. That came out great BUT it now smudges if there is any water on it. I think it was the wrong kind of paint for the surface. You will also notice that I left out some of the statements from the original fileΒ  (down below) which I got from Etsy. I had some probably weeding and the Once Upon a Time was damaged when I dropped some water on the sign. The paint screwed up. I will remake this on a better board but this was fun!

The Sass

This project came out really well. Even though you can’t see it—Yoda’s head sparkles! This I made for a friend who just adopted a baby girl. It is a geek home and this was just too perfect!

We have a FB group of bloggers going to BEA! I am putting together a little bag with a water bottle for the gals in the group. This was just a fun thing to do to $1 store water bottles πŸ™‚

Cup of Tea

I found this cup at a resale shop and just prettied it up. 651 Vinyl hand washes wonderfully. I don’t put my cups in the microwave so I am not sure how it would hold up. I am going to guess not well but for me it isn’t an issue.

Finally Fiber Fest was last weekend and I got some really cool yarn! I don’t actually make socks but I thought I would try a pancho—I am going to have to sub some other yarn but so far it is fun πŸ˜‰

So this has been what I have been crafting. I think I am going to open an etsy shop over the summer but I need to make some “sell” stuff first. I am going to name it Mess To Best since I really do like upcycling old boards, $1 finds, and such. That is down the line though. Right now I am all about making gifts! So what have you been doing?

  1. So much fun! I’d love to make a fun sign like that. I’m not great with a lot of crafts. I’ll get very involved with them and then I just can’t find the times. I keep meaning to do a scrapbook for the kids, but whenever I plan to do it the kids are around and not napping or we’re busy … it’s tough! Anyway, I think my favourite item is that onesie!!! It’s soooo freaking cute!

  2. I think the cuppa tea cup is still my favorite. We have a few things we want to put up on my daughter’s Etsy store, but we’really stockpiling ideas. I am lacking in the creativity department. I need someone to direct me, then I’might good. Did you seal the 651 on the cup?

    • I already answered you but realized I did it though email LOL πŸ™‚ From what I have read with 651 you don’t have to seal it but you do have to let it “cure” to the object before getting it wet.

  3. You’ve been busy, and yay for the craft room! Okay, I’m ready to place my orders, now. πŸ˜‰ Seriously, I love the onesy, the waterbottle, and all of it. Do you have an Etsy store? Because you definitely should!

  4. Omigosh, Felicia! How do you have time to do all these crafts?!? I love them all. That sign is awesome – I love the text for it. And the onesie is adorable! That poncho…I’m feeling ya. I’ve been working on a scarf – doing lace knitting – and it’s been a gigantic pain. I think I’ve ripped it out 8 times. :/ Oh, and the water bottles are fantastic! You’re so creative! And generous. πŸ˜€ But we’re having birthday *drinks* in a month, right?? Not just water? πŸ˜‰

    • OMG The poncho is driving me nuts plus I don’t think I have enough yarn for it. So now I am having to improvise and I have torn it out a few times *Sigh*

  5. OMG you have to make me that sign!!! My son will love it, he’s moving out soon andd that would be the perfect “moving out” present. So proud to have raised a geek .

Congrats to your friend, I hope you can share a photo of her with that onesie on πŸ™‚
