Welcome to Books & Crafts, a craft circle composed of book bloggers, a sporadic meme where we share our other creative pursuits aside from reading and blogging. Everyone is welcome to join, just add your tag/label links below and you’re good to go!
PS: No set day on this–I am going to try post at least every other week π
So this week I am sharing some of my favorite YouTube Crafting Channels! YouTube is my go-to for inspiration or ideas or how the heck do you do that type of searches. I am willing to try a LOT of things so my channels are pretty varied. Next week I will share my latest finished (that is the key word) project–my book room sign!
I love this channel for stitch ideas. PLUS–I send all my friends that are left-handers there π

You’re brilliant! I wouldn’t have thought to share youtube but I use it often – especially when I can’t figure out something like a knitting stitch! I’m going to have to check out Off Kilter Ian and Crafty Gemini Creates for sure! I love making cards and bookmarks. I have several unfinished projects myself. In fact, my mother-in-law makes fun of me for one of them. I’m making it my mission to finish it before she comes in May…and, of course, I’ll share it on my blog. π
I am thinking of buying a sewing machine… despite the fact that I always cheated in home ec. I couldn’t do the push pedal, my foot goes all spastic… but I’m desperate to learn how to hem. My pants are always too long- I’m just tall enough that petite sizes are a tad too short, and regular is too long because I wear flats or sneakers. I have a dream about learning to sew. Plus, I’m sure it’ll come in handy during the zombie apocalypse!
That is exactly why I want to learn. It would be dead useful in an apocolypse. It is the reason I love that I can crochet–that would be dead useful should I fall back in time. At least I would have a legit skill cause while I love to eat meat–killing it is not my thing.
Cool stations, thanks for sharing!
Crochet – I hate crochet! lol I had a project for home ec and I wasn’t able to finish mine because my links were too tight so it’s all scrunched up. I tried to redo it several times, no go. I’m traumatized, knitting I want to try though.
Quilting – I so want to take classes for that too. I am hoping to make a wedding quilt for my son when he marries. Ha! How’s yours going btw?
Ombre chairs – my friend will love that video. She just bought a new house so that’s a cool project for her to do IF she’s interested.
LOL–I feel that way about Knitting but I think it is because I have been crocheting so long. I try to knit and my stitches are all over the place π
Quilting–mine is still all sitting in the bag from last year. I am determined this summer though because I am going on a spending freeze and have tons of quilting stuff to keep me busy π
Those ombre chairs were cool but she has tons of other stuff I want to try too π
Great channels , I love Jenny Doan because she does some wonderful things. I am learning to quilt – slowly, but enjoying it. At the moment I am doing The Splendid Sampler along with about 17 000 others. It is so much fun to see all the different ideas sewers come up with. I never knew about Periscope but have been watching one woman who has an embroidery shop and she makes the block and chats to those watching live. She will say “Well that’s not too shabby”. It isn’t perfect but it is good enough so that encourages me!
I am going to take a look at The Splendid Sampler! I keep forgetting about Periscope–I need to remember to watch some live streams π
Some fun stuff there. I am going to go watch the videos. I have made several quilts and I love it when I can find the time.
I really want to quilt for myself. I love quilts and I am making one of those homes that is quirky. Quilts work perfectly for my quirkiness π
That baby blanket and sewing pad! I want, I want, I want. Love the bookmark; I think I’ll give that one a try. I’ve actually picked up my knitting needles again in the hopes of creating something new or finishing some old projects.
I have sooooooooo many unfinished project so I am glad to hear someone else has those LOL π YouTube crafting channels are my crack. I am like ooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhh I can do that. I love giving it a whirl even if I don’t always pull it off π
These are some fun youtube channels! When I get in the crafting mood, I’m gonna check this out π
You should. YouTube is crafting gold π
I want to learn crocheting. Is Crochet Crowd suitable for beginners?
Oh yes! They have excellent beginner tutorials (even down to how to hold the hook). It is fantastic for that π
Yes! I’ll definitely be checking this out. Many, many thanks.
What I love is they also use yarn you can get in any store so it isn’t speciality or snobby π I have some snobby yarn but most of my projects are general Red Heart or similar π
