From Goodreads: Live fast, fight hard and, if you have to die, then take as many of your enemies with you as you can. That is the Amazon credo and it was one Samia lived and died by. Now in contemporary New Orleans, the immortal Amazon warrior is about to learn that there’s a worse evil coming to slaughter mankind than she’s ever faced before.

Shapeshifter Dev Peltier has stood guard at the front of Sanctuary for almost two hundred years and in that time, he’s seen it all. Or so he thought. Now their enemies have discovered a new source of power–one that makes a mockery of anything faced to date.

The war is on and Dev and Sam are guarding ground zero. But in order to win, they will have to break the most cardinal of all rules and pray it doesn’t unravel the universe as we know it.

Publisher: St. Martin’s Press
Purchased: Bought on Amazon

What I Loved: Dev and Sam are up there in my favorite couples for this series.  Dev is such a great smart *ss but he also sees the bright side of every situation.  He is protective, kind (though don’t let him know that), and beyond likable.  Sam is a strong woman and character.  The more you learn about her, the more you know her and Dev would be a great match.  I loved the “Dogs” too: Ethon, Scorpio, Chi to name a few.  What a great fighting team.  I can’t wait to learn more about them in books to come.  As always, there was my Nick (yep he is mine)!  He was in this book a good portion, I like it but that boy has got some dark days ahead.

What I Liked:  SK made me laugh several times in this book!  Favorite quotes:

In the blink of an eye, Sam sprung forward, slashing and tearing through the Daimons with a power and skill that was unrivaled. Never in his life had he seen anything like it. Never. Damn, woman… And he’d pissed her off? What the hell had he been thinking?

“What’s your super smeller telling you, Gus?” He gave the Dark-Hunter an evil glower. “Stop with the Psych reference, asshole. Remember, I am one of the few species who can rip you limb from limb.”

Scorpio snorted. “Yes but are they cercopithecoid or platyrrhine primates?” Ethon glared at him. “Get your head out of the Discovery Channel and on the attack.”

Complaints:  Simi was only in it for one page.

Why I gave it a 4:  This is going down as one of my favorites in the series because of the humor level.  It also was a great story but when SK combines them it works out really well!

Who I would recommend it too:  PNR fans!  I will say this, she give history in this one so new readers can pick it up without feeling they missed too much. I would recommend reading a few (at least Ash’s book) before this though.  There is too much history to pass by.

I finally found this book and immediately grabbed it from the local bookstore :-)Loved revisiting old friends, and while Dev and Sam are funny individually, unlike you I can't say that I liked them as a couple. I just couldn't understand the instant attraction …Wished we'd seen more of Simi too. LOL.
