About: How far will Rose go to keep her promise?
The recent Strigoi attack at St. Vladimir’s Academy was the deadliest ever in the school’s history, claiming the lives of Moroi students, teachers, and guardians alike. Even worse, the Strigoi took some of their victims with them. . . including Dimitri.
He’d rather die than be one of them, and now Rose must abandon her best friend, Lissa—the one she has sworn to protect no matter what—and keep the promise Dimitri begged her to make long ago. But with everything at stake, how can she possibly destroy the person she loves most?
What I LOVED: This was a very emotional book as Rose had to confront her feelings with all of her relationships. R. Mead did a wonderful job of really drawing you into Rose’s journey and watching her go through her lowest moments were heart wrenching. I was moved (even to tears) a few times in the book.
What I LIKED: I really enjoyed the fact that we were never truly disconnected from the people back at the academy. It would be just about the time that I was wondering what they were doing that Rose would pop into Lissa’s head. It was a great balance between the two places: where Rose was and the academy. I am really enjoying Christian and the leadership role he is taking with training people as they come to him. I am enjoying his character development.
What was SO-SO: This is one of the few books that I gave a four and I still have one part I am really not getting. I am liking Lissa less and less with each book. I know that isn’t the intention but something just bugs me about her.
Why I gave it a 4: It was an emotional roller coaster that kept me hooked from page 1. Really just a fantastic read! I would recommend this to YA and PNR readers.
