Blogger Confession: Books I read my 1rst year Blogging (2009)

Blogger Confession:  Books I read during my 1rst year of Blogging (Dec 31, 2008 to Dec 31, 2009)

December 31, 2008 is when I started Geeky Bloggers Book Blog.  Back then the name was Flea’s Books because I was challenging myself to read a 100 books in a year.  What better name that just stating flat out these are what Flea (my nickname) read that year?  I didn’t quite make it that year but it is fun to think that was how my blog started!

I thought it would be fun to look back to what I read that year!  The Good, The Bad, and The UGLY!

Things I can tell from the list:

  1. I used to read a LOT more YA than I do now
  2. I was a huge series reader (I miss that actually)
  3. I am not sure how some of these books even got on my radar
  4. How did I miss reading Pride and Prejudice one year?
  5. I can’t count evidently–look closely at the numbering (took directly from the blog title)–see anything off?
  6. Yes those links go to my old reviews—read at your own risk!
  7. I liked a few books back then that I CAN NOT STAND now–not naming names!
  8. I can still understand what I was thinking when I wrote the review even though it would make no sense to anyone else LOL
  9. I spent a bulk of my year on Christine Feehan, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Lara Adrian, and Charlaine Harris.  I still read all 4 of these ladies to this day!  True fan girl–woot woot!

Have you ever looked back to see what you read and were shocked?

That is exactly how I read before I started blogging. I found a series and tore through it. I don’t now, because I figured it doesn’t make for exciting blog reading. I kind off miss it too. You’re all snuggled into the/a world & the page turning begins.

It doesn’t really make exciting blog reading but next year mine is going to be an unexciting blog. Me and Dave Ramsey are going to embrace each other which means I read what I have. The last month of “book buying ban” has been an effort to break me of my buying habit. I am going to purchase a gift card at the beginning of the year that will be it for my book purchases next year. It is going to be scary!

We’ve got good shot on our shelves waiting, begging to be read. Libraries are pretty awesome. And we have each other, if you have a hankering for anything on my shelf. We need wine & whine. 😉

You started the blog back in 2008? I had no idea you’d been blogging that long Felicia! Well done you:) I can see you went on a Sherrilyn Kenyon kick – I definitely was on one of those the year before I started blogging. I devoured almost her entire Dark Hunter series – though I cheated and started with Acheron’s book which nearly killed me. To this day I will never read the first 500 pages of that book again. Only the last 300 when he finds a bit of happiness. LOVE HIM!

About to start year 5—isn’t that the scariest thing ever? Funny thing is next year will look an awful lot like the first year. I am going back to reading series and just having fun. I think it will be a hoot 🙂 Probably won’t be to much fun for everyone else but I am going to have a blast!

Whoa! I almost forgot about Keri Arthur. I’ve been meaning to finish her Riley series and start the new one. I think I left off somewhere around book 5? There may have been a horse shifter involved? LOL

And I’m dying to know who you can’t stand now and why? LOL

I think you made it further than me—I just couldn’t wrap my head around her men choices. I mean seriously, I like to think I am not a prude but I remember just wishing for her to make a choice. Secretly I think Keri Arthur might be one of the reasons I don’t like triangles, quadrangles, or women/men who can’t just make a choice of their soulmate(s).

WOW! You read a lot more than I did during my first year of blogging. Some of the books you read are on my TBR list. I have gone back a couple of times since I started my blog and said What was I thinking? It’s nice to see how much we have grown as bloggers. I am sure most my my first reviews didn’t make sense. In fact, I am sure some of my current reviews don’t make much sense either, lol.

Your year was almost exactly like my first year reading – I went thru Kenyon and Ward’s series, too! Now, c’mon, we’ve all read THAT series and it is what it is…. I’m going on a limb and ass-uming it’s the one you allude to 😉 It actually got me into reading, sad as that is.

And I actually miss reading series back to back to back, too!!! I read Harris that way, Caine, Hamilton.. They’re hard to pick up now 🙁 I feel lost from the world now. I really want to read some series next year!!!

Great post – thanks for the memories!!! 🙂

Oh I fully admit I don’t like Twilight now but looking at my review, I didn’t like it much then either (at least Breaking Dawn). I think actually Breaking Dawn ruined the series for me and tainted the other books. I am such an ender.

Actually it is the PC Cast books (and I read more of them my second year) that I have no IDEA what I was thinking. They are not even remotely well written and the characters are super whiny LOL. I think maybe I just got wrapped up in the train wreck that is that series 🙂

I miss series reading too. I would not be surprised if it makes a big comeback in my world 🙂

hmmm…i see patterns and I envy you being able to read the same author back to back…i cannot do that or I burn out. Would you believe I own most of the Sookie books and have never read them *eyes bookshelf*

Wow, you read the Sons of Destiny by Jean Johnson! I do love that series, did you finish it the next year? There are after all 8 magical hot brothers.
And why would you be ashamed of what you read? What is wrong with reading to entertain yourself?
And yes, you skipped some numbers …

I miss series reading too! When I found one I liked I used to read them back-to-back but I guess lal the new releases coming in now puts me off doing that. Maybe next year can be the return of the series for me.
