Book Blog Walkers Unite!

Alright I am going to get a little fitness orientated for the month of October.  Leslie Sansone is doing a Slimmer by Thanksgiving 30 day challenge.  No purchase necessary and you can play along on Twitter. I thought it would be super cool if we could get a group together to keep each other on track!

Here is my plan:

  1. I will do a post on Oct 1rst announcing that it is time to get your walk, run, fitness on!
  2. For the month of October I will be following the hashtag #bookblogwalkers on both Facebook and Twitter!  If you decide to play along then just use that hashtag! If you want to include her hashtag, it is #whyiwalkathome
  3. Every Sunday in October I will be doing a shout out to all the blogs that participated (5 to 7 days) on Facebook, Twitter, and here on the blog.  Figure it will be fun to see who is getting their walk on!
  4. At the end of the month, I will put all the participants names in a hat and giveaway a $10 amazon gift card!

So what do you think?  Can you commit to 30 min a day for 30 days?  I am really looking forward to getting my heart a little healthier before I destroy it with Thanksgiving, Birthday, and Christmas Food!

  1. I’m in. Going to read and walk on treadmill. I’m behind 4 hours of my fitness open gym class. Twitter shall be my support. I’m 18 but I’ve got a bad knee from a stupid injury in high school. 3hrs a week is my goal.

  2. I love this plan! I have really been meaning to start working out again, so I am in!! I’m really gonna try to do it every day…but can’t guarantee anything lol. 🙂

  3. I love this idea! I’m 100% in – except I won’t be walking but doing my elliptical. That’s ok, right? I’ve been off and on with it this past month, so this will be the perfect kick in the butt to get me back on again. Looking forward to it!

    • Yep! In fact, I am going to have a walking audiobook. That way I am pushed to do it every day 🙂 I may even *gasp* go over 30 min if the book is really good LOL

  4. I’m IN! September was a total bust for me but I’ve got to get back on track with my exercise. I do NOT want bad knees in the future… And yay for online encouragement!

  5. I am in, but I cant’ commit to every day right now as I have an out of town trip and a bunch of stuff going on, but I do love walking especially when the weather permits. Great idea, Felicia!

    • Whatever you can do is excellent. Heck even count when you are grocery shopping 30 min. I think the point is just to be active for a solid 30 min. I love Leslie’s view on that. Every step counts, every little bit matters 🙂

  6. Count me in!!! I have the Just Walk 30 Day Walk Off dvr’s, plus my fitbit is urging me to get back on track with making 10k steps/day. And I just went on a little shopping spree at Target and got a few new workout tops/jackets for the cooler weather.

    I love the graphic…Is it ok to use on my blog? I’ll make a post about it, too!

  7. Sweet, I’m in! So by the 5 to 7 you mean that in order to be “counted” we need to tweet about our exercising at least 5 days a week? That’s a bit more than I can realistically get to the gym :-/ So I might not be able to join in to that degree, but at least 3 days a week 😉

    • Walking at home counts too! So if you get in 3 days a week at the gym and 2 walks in during the week you are golden 🙂 However, I will totally count it if you do 3 days a week at the gym (you are probably going to be doing an hour so time wise it works)!

      • Yey! I’m very pumped, this might be a good time to go get a new pedometer since I lost my last one >.> Also this is a great excuse to go walk the trail next to my apartment because the leaves will be soooooo pretty 😀

  8. I think it’s a great idea! I really need to get back on the treadmill and walk. I keep finding many other excuses why not to exercise but its important to my joint health to keep moving. I’ve had too many birthday treats this month and I can’t give up sweets! I will sign up!
