The relationship is pretend. The chemistry…isn’t.

After her last job ended with a broken heart and a humiliating exit from the company, Shelby Leighton’s project management career is back on track with a new job and a high-profile project. The problem: her new boss is a little too friendly, and the staff is talking. Can you say, “déjà vu?” The solution: casually mention a fictional new boyfriend.

Jake Magill doesn’t do relationships. It’s casual or nothing, but the hot blonde he’s been eyeing at the coffee shop sure is something. Especially when she confesses her problem, and he finds himself offering to act as her date.

Sounds simple. Stroll around the party with Shelby’s sexy curves clinging to his arm? He’s all over it. Until he meets her boss—the man who once stole and married the one woman Jake thought he loved.

Now Jake’s the one with a reason to pretend. If only to save his own pride…and Shelby from the predatory gaze of the man who could ruin her, and any chance of finding out if their fake connection is the real thing.

Contains one desperate lady in need, and a pretend boyfriend who shows impressive dedication to nailing all—and then some—elements of his role. Oh my!

Welcome to my stop on the Sweet Deal by Kelly Jamieson blog tour!  I am excited to have Kelly here today because she is a total Foodie just like me!  I can’t help but love someone who loves food!  Today Kelly is here to talk about how her curious nature sometimes gets the best of her while traveling.

So without further ado–here is Kurious Kelly!

My family makes fun of me because I’m so curious about things around me when I travel. One of the things I always want to know about is the type of trees and flowers we see. The first time I went to California I assumed my husband would know all these things since he’d lived there for a few years going to school. I was wrong. But he liked to yank my chain so he makes stuff up. I’ll say, what is that tree with the yellow flowers? And he’ll tell me it’s a flowering juniper. At first I almost believed him.

I still can’t help but ask, even though I know he doesn’t know the answers (and frankly, he doesn’t care!).

On my recent trip to France to visit our daughter, she knew I would want to visit the park in Montpellier where the trees all had signs on them identifying them. I loved it! The trees everywhere that I thought were chestnut trees are actually a kind of maple. In Nice, we wandered through a market that had fresh vegetables (check out these tomatoes!) and fruits, bins of herbs and spices, flavoured sugars, honey, lavender, tables filled with little scented soaps, and bins and bins of all kinds of olives. And of course flowers, where I learned the names of some of the flowers I wasn’t familiar with.

Am I the only one who wants to know these things? Is it maybe because I’m a writer and I want to know all these details?

About Kelly: I’m a married mother of two who lives a very ordinary life outside of my imagination. When I’m not writing I’m usually reading. I also like to cook and that means I like to read cookbooks and cooking magazines. In the summer I enjoy spending time gardening and in the winter I like to read gardening magazines and seed catalogues. I love lying on the beach or on my deck with a glass of wine and a good book. I also love to travel. As you can see, pretty much all my activities involve reading somehow! Although I don’t have as much time for it any more, I also love to shop, especially for clothes and shoes. Some think I’m obsessed with shoes but that is not true (although my husband would point out that there is no room left in our closet).

I love to visit(and tour if possible) old houses. I like looking at their architecture, the rooms, the furniture, everything.
This book sounds fantastic. Can’t wait to read it.

  2. Tina says:

I like Melissa, love old cemeteries and I love old churches, the ones with bell towers even better!!!!

  3. Oh I think anything that has a story is so cool. I think that is why I like old cemeteries. Lots of stories there.

Btw, I better not go with Felicia. Sometimes I feel ancient and I don’t want to be a distraction…

  4. Oh I love hearing the other things people are curious about! Historical markers, roads, books…awesome!

  5. erinf1 says:

Thanks for a fun post and giveaway! My bf always just rolls his eyes and waits for me if there are any books present. Otherwise, I also love to check out historical or interesting sites :)

  6. blodeuedd says:

I am with Felicia :) Historic and I am there, all curious and wanting more and more. Also, when bf and I am out walking I can suddenly get this urge to see what can be found behind a few trees. Who knows

  7. aurian says:

I so totally agree with you! I always want to know what kind of tree or flower or animal I am seeing. So I have books with birds, and native wild flowers and mushrooms. And I love eating, does that make me a foodie, or do I have to love to cook it myself as well?

  8. Mary says:

I always stop to read the historical markers–I’m fascinated to know what happened along this dusty highway or that boring old field (I now live in the South and every boring-looking field seems to have some crazy event that happened a hundred or more years ago). Love that your hubby would just throw out random flower names to answer your questions.

  9. Well, I can’t say I’ve ever been very curious about trees or flowers, but lately, I’ve been very curious about roads. Since I started cycling, I’m constantly on the road. You aren’t really supposed to wear headphones while you are cycling because you have to listen for cars and traffic, so while I’m riding through different parts of town, I’m looking at the road and thinking about people who travel them, and where they go and how it feels to have the road be apart of you. I love getting home from a ride and having to shower the road grim off of me. It’s weird, I know.

Thanks for the giveaway! I love the cover. :)

    • That is an awesome thing to wonder about! I mean think of how many people have traveled there for different reasons: rushing to the hospital to have a baby, going on a first date, walking out a heartbreak, strolling with your grandparents…

      Oh if roads could talk!
