Best of 2013 Audiobook Blog Hop: Sign-Ups Are Open!
It is officially that time of year again, friends. The cocoa is warm, the 2013 best-of lists are starting to roll in, and yes, that means it is time for the Best of 2013 Audiobook Blog Hop. Sign-ups are open, and I am hosting one of the stops. If you are an audiobook blogger (or a regular book blogger who has been listening more this year), come join us.
What Is the Best of 2013 Audiobook Blog Hop?
The blog hop is a multi-day, multi-blog celebration of the best audiobooks we listened to in 2013. Each participating blogger publishes a Best of 2013 audiobook post (categories are flexible: best narrator, best production, best surprise listen, best of a specific genre, top five overall, whatever speaks to you), and we link our posts together so readers can hop from blog to blog and discover new favorites.
It is part year-end celebration, part next-year recommendation engine, and part “let me brag on the narrators who got me through 2013.”
How to Sign Up
If you want in, here is what to do:
- Comment on this post or use the linkup tool below with your blog URL and the date you want to publish your Best of 2013 audiobook post.
- Pick any day during the hop window. We will link to all participants from a master post and from each other’s blogs throughout the week.
- Publish your post on your chosen day. Keep it audiobook-focused, share at least a few specific titles, and link back to the master post so readers can keep hopping.
That is the whole thing. No fees, no minimum number of titles, no specific format required.
What Counts as a 2013 Audiobook?
For this hop, we are going with audiobooks you listened to in 2013, regardless of the original publication date or the audiobook release date. So if 2013 was the year you finally got around to that Dorothy Sayers backlist on audio, those count.
Some Suggestions for Your Post
If you are not sure what to write, here are some prompts that have worked for past participants:
- Top 5 audiobooks of the year (overall, ranked or unranked).
- Best narrator performance of 2013.
- Best audiobook in your favorite genre.
- Best surprise listen (a book or narrator you did not expect to love).
- Most disappointing listen (we keep this kind, but we keep it honest).
- Best production (sound design, full cast, music).
- Best backlist discovery.
You can do one of these, all of these, or come up with your own angle.
Why I Love This Hop
Year-end blog hops are one of my favorite blogging traditions because they actually deliver on the promise of community. I always come out of these hops with at least three or four titles I never would have found otherwise, and I always get a few new blogs added to my regular rotation. Audiobook bloggers are a particularly small and warm corner of the book blog world, and any chance to celebrate it together is one I am taking.
