Balancing the Book Budget 2014

Balancing the Book Budget Jan 2014 Monthly Check-In!

The RULES

  • I can purchase up to $600 ($450 in GC from Christmas/Birthday and $150 actual Book Budget)
  • I can use my audible credits (2 a month).  If I buy extra credits or if I use “Add Professional Narration” that comes out of my budget.
  • Review Books will be tracked.
  • Review Books requested before Jan 1, 2014 will be considered Review TBR (my goal is to wipe this mostly clear by the end of the year–even old ones that I didn’t get too)
  • Review Books requested after Jan 1, 2014 should only be authors or series that I am currently reading (in print) and only audiobooks that I can get to within 6 weeks.

  1. I just love these posts of yours!! I should do something to help me keep track. I am wanting to clear my review pile this year and not keeping track I think doesn’t provide clear focus. Can’t wait to see how you do this month.

  2. Look at all these good bloggers with their book budgets! So responsible! I’m too afraid to take a real good luck at what I actually spend on my hobby. And, posting it for all to see? Heck no! LOL Happy Friday! 🙂

  3. Hm… looks like I may pay a visit to your house. Just ignore the book bags I’m bringing with me. 😉

Oh I got audiobooks.com credit and 3 months free from the contest you had. Whee! I know I’m catching up on my Charlie Davidson series. 😀

  4. I am proud of you for keeping to your budget and for making an effort to get your TBR under control. I am trying to get on top of mine, and I am not having problems buying books as I have so much to review what’s the point. Also the library is a great resource for older books and I go there anyway with my kids.

  5. What means shopped of your TBR? Do you mean chopped? Or are that books bought?

My bookbudget died a hard death yesterday, when I got the email of 10% discount from Bookdepository.co.uk. I cancelled all my outstanding pre-orders and ordered them again, and I then ordered everything I had already on my calendar till the end of the year, AND some books I forgot to buy from authors I follow. So, sigh. I have been very bad. That 10% discount is just so alluring, especially as the previous ones were only 5% off.

  6. Wow Felicia! Look how organized you are! I should be better about my book budget, but I just sort of buy when I feel like it which sometimes works out well and sometimes makes me shake my head at myself:) I got a bunch of gift cards for Christmas, so I have guilt-free buying left for a little while yet which is AWESOME:) Wishing you good luck on sticking to your budget this year!

  7. Oh man this new year is not going well, I was all read my own stuff and instead I got more review books than usual *headdesk*

I hope you have better luck the coming months 😉
