With Felipe de Castro, the Vampire King of Louisiana (and Arkansas and Nevada), in town, it’s the worst possible time for a body to show up in Eric Northman’s front yard—especially the body of a woman whose blood he just drank.
Now, it’s up to Sookie and Bill, the official Area Five investigator, to solve the murder. Sookie thinks that, at least this time, the dead girl’s fate has nothing to do with her. But she is wrong. She has an enemy, one far more devious than she would ever suspect, who’s out to make Sookie’s world come crashing down.

First Thought when Finished: I can’t believe we only have one more to go! I know who I want to be her HEA (have since book 6)!
What I Loved: Gosh I missed the world of Sookieverse! Seriously, I love this series. It is possibly my first Urban Fantasy series love. I have read most of the books at least 3 times and before the last one I will read them again. This held all of the elements I LOVE: snark, fun, fairies, vampires, werewolves, friends, family, and intrigue. Sookie is up to her eyeballs in trouble (again) and as always it was kind of fun to watch her try to get out of it. The ending of this book I know will be one of those that people will love or hate. I loved it! Though it did make for a WTF moment! You can tell from that statement who I want her with if you have read this!
What I Liked: I really liked getting back into touch with all the familiars of BT. Tara was especially heartwarming. I love their friendship and there were some great moments in this story. I like the human moments in this supernatural world. They make each moment just that much more intense!
Audio Specific Review: Johanna Parker did an excellent job! I almost want to get the rest in audiobook now! It was excellent to listen too!
Final Thought: I am sad that this is the next to last book but I am so glad that these books have been in my world!

I’m seeing such mixed reviews on this one… but I’m with you. I love Sookie-verse and I can’t wait to get back into it. It’s sad that there’s only one more but it’s better than going out on a low note.
Oh, I soooo hope she doesn’t end up with Sam 😉 Since I’ve heard so little about the ending except that I might not like it, I’ve been dreading picking up this one. I may just have to suck it up (Ha! bad pun!)
Okay….maybe I should give this series another chance! I’ve only read the first two and was a bit put off that it wasn’t as…*ahem*…dirty as TB. But I wouldn’t mind actually giving them another shot!
I really can’t believe that the next one’s the last in the series! *sob* Who do you have as Sookie’s HEA? I think Bill’s the one…though I’m still an Eric girl (of course, I’m heavily influenced by Alexander Skarsgård!).
I am not rooting for a Vampire at all! I want Sam to be her forever after–he is just her rock. As flighty as she is (at times) I think he is perfect for her LOL
Of course, I wish I was Sookie and had so many choices: Sam, Bill, Eric, Alcide, Quinn *sigh*
No, she is just so tstl and everything irritates me 🙁
Sookie gets on a lot of people’s nerves. She is not for everyone.
Oh gosh, I need to get back to this series. I admit I wasn’t a huge fan of the beginning, but it did start to grow on me before I took my little break. I’m so curious to see what’s happening though. o: Glad you liked it!
I know that some of the books are less than thrilling but overall this is one of my favorite escape series.
I’m behind on this series and the tv one too. I so need to catch up. It’s one of my faves too!
I am cancelling cable so I officially will be behind on the TV series starting this year!
I have been eyeing this series for about three years and I know I won’t be able to find the time to squish in all the books right now with all the blog commitments but I might just look into audiobooks, that would be the way to go for this series. Glad to hear it is still going strong for you.
The audiobook was delightful which was shocking. Usually I can’t switch to audiobook this far into a series LOL
Ahh I used to LOVE this series till I joined the fandom *le sigh* The last few haven’t appealed to me as the previous ones did, but after reading this I am hopeful for the series 😀
I am curious to know who is your HEA for Sookie bb 😉
* not going to say *
Other than he is someone that she has not been romantically involved directly with so far 🙂
This was my first adult series ever. I read 2 books a weekend. They are like butter. I can’t wait to check it out from the library.
