Starting tomorrow Amanda @ On a Book Bender, Felicia @ Geeky Bloggers Book Blog (me) and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal are going to spend the week Profiling Mysteries! It is our attempt to shine a spotlight on one of our favorite genres!
Here is what is in store:
Six days.
Six different types of mysteries.
A whole lot of whodunit!

I am hosting a #Giveaway in order to thank Amanda and Kelley for doing this with me! I will pick three winners (open to anyone internationally that book depository ships too) at the end of the week to pick a book of their choice from the books we highlight during the week. That is AT LEAST 18 books to choose from and maybe more if the fancy strikes us!
Here is how you will enter–leave a comment answering the question what is your favorite book/author from the subgenres above (I am looking for reading ideas) and I will randomly pick the winners from the entries. The winners will be chosen on Aug 26th!
Thank you so much Amanda and Kelley for helping me highlight my favorite genres! You two are both getting books from me for being such awesome gals!
This event is to help me switch my blog over from being mostly romance to being more mystery/thriller focused. That will include Romantic Suspense, Urban Fantasy, Mysteries, Thrillers, Cozy Mysteries–ect. I do have a friend that is starting to review for me so Romance will not be going away but that is going to be Mindy’s main focus. Thank you guys so much for being my readers, friends, and book soulmates. I am excited about this new turn for the blog and the friends that are helping me making it a big deal!

My favorite mystery author is Craig Johnson. I love his books and like the tv show.
Okay:
Mon: Classic Mystery: The Moving Finger and Sparkling Cyanide by Agatha Christie. Also, for class romantic suspense, you cannot go wrong with Mary Stewart. I particularly love Nine Coaches Waiting. I also like Georgette Heyer’s mysteries,
Tues: Romantic Suspense: Kill and Tell or After the Night by Linda Howard–anything by Linda Howard. I also liked Thin Dark Line by Tami Hoag
Wed: Urban Fantasy: Nothing new here: Patricia Briggs/Ilona Andrews
Thurs: Thriller: ??? Not sure what makes a thriller, exactly.
Fri: Cozy Mystery: Don’t read cozies. Well, I read some of the Bennie Harper books by Earlene Fowler. They’re okay.
Sat: Paranormal Elements: Linda Howard again–Dream Man
And since I couldn’t answer about thrillers, I’ll throw in Wrapt In Crystal by Sharon Shinn. It’s scific mystery–and awesome.
I used to be a huge Alexander McCall Smith #1 Ladies Detective Agency fan. Also love Steve Berry, if you like that Dan Brown kind of history mystery type.
Love these events, not many in the Mystery category.
Mon: Classic Mystery – Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier
Tues: Romantic Suspense – Author Andrea Kane
Wed: Urban Fantasy – I haven’t read UF
Thurs: Thriller – Heath Sommer, Manufactured Identity trilogy or new Department Thirteen by James Houston Turner
Fri: Cozy Mystery – Motherhood Mysteries, Diana Orgain
Sat: Paranormal Elements – Dan Wells, I am not a Serial Killer trilogy
Oh I love this :-)

Great event Felicia, I am looking forward to your posts!
My favourite authors per genre:
Classic Mystery: Perry Mason series by ? (Sorry, can’t remember at the moment). Read those in my teens and loved them so much.
Romantic Suspense: Maya Banks, Christina Skye, Cherry Adair
Urban Fantasy: Laurell K. Hamilton, Yasmine Galenorn, Nalini Singh
Thrillers: I don’t read those, sorry.
Cozy Mystery: Laura Childs, Leann Sweeney, Ellery Adams
Paranormal elements: Alexis Morgan, Susan Sizemore, Jean Johnson.
I am glad you get to read more books/genres you like, and that someone is helping you with reviews. Looking forward to meeting her here.
Yayyy bring it on :)
I looove Agatha Christie and Nancy Drew.
Does Nancy count?
I’m still waiting to dive into the cozy mysteries I have on my shelf to pick a fave. Usually I like those that combine a craft. UF? Gee, you know that’s my fave. Kelley Armstrong, Allison Pang, Jennifer Estep, Jeaniene Frost, Umm… um… I know there is a lot more, but that is off the top of my head… Mysteries and thrillers really depend on what I’m into at the moment. Don’t have one that stands out above the rest at them moment. Oh I can’t wait for this event!
Cozy mystery is my favorite genre, but I don’t know if I could pick a favorite author! I think my top pick this year would be Lucy Arlington’s @ Buried in a Book, so I’ll go with Lucy. :-) I’m bummed that I have to wait until next year for the follow up. Oh, well!
We’re in the same boat – I’ve moved away from romances in the past several months too. Now I love mysteries, suspense/gothics, contemporary/women’s fiction and historical fiction. I never thought it would happen, but it did! (Though, I’ll still read a romance from time to time.)
I have to pick a favorite? Drat. I like them all. For cozy mysteries, I like Donna Andrews and Charlotte Gilman; for UF, I like Kelley Armstrong, Patty Briggs, and Seanan McGuire. Action adventure/thriller, hmmm, David Baldacci is good as is the writing team of Preston and Childs. Romantic suspense, I used to love Linda Howard, Karen Robards and Julie Garwood; I’m trying to branch out, I need new authors.
I’m looking forward to this week and your new focus on mysteries.
