The sisters of Sea Haven, bound by the heart and the magical power of the elements, return in this soul-stirring new novel from Christine Feehan, #1 New York Times bestselling author ofΒ Spirit Bound...

For as far back as she can remember, Airiana Ridell has always been aware of her extraordinary gift. She can intuit revealing and illuminating 'patterns' in the air around her-whether in a spray of mist, in billowing clouds, or in the dense swirls of an impenetrable fog. Her abilities led to her placement in a secret government training facility when she was a child, but everything changed after her mother was murdered.

Airiana fled the program, but she couldn't outrun the desperate members of a shadowy cabal who want her, who need her, who will kill to get her. Kidnapped and held aboard a ship bound for dangerous seas, her only chance for rescue is Maxim Prakenskii. He has his reasons for helping her, but he isn't about to reveal them to Airiana. Not yet. Not as the two are drawn together as moth to flame. Not when there are so many secrets yet untold that could shatter the quaint community of Sea Haven and all who reside there..

First Thought when Finished: Air Bound by Christine Feehan was a wonderful addition to the Sisters of the Heart Series. I am very excited that everything/everyone is coming together!

Story Thoughts: This is my favorite Sisters of the Heart book so far. The story was a great combination of action, overall story arc move forward, and romance. The kids both broke my heart and gave me hope. They were so brilliantly brave in a horrible situation. Also, the slow build between Airiana and Maxim was perfectly well done. I liked their connection in element first. This will be in my reread pile.

Character Thoughts: I love Airiana! She was fierce, determined, knew her limitations, was willing to do whatever it took, and trusted her feelings. I am always cheering when someone just accepts what they know to be true. Took me a bit more to warm up to Maxim (as it should) but when I did, I swooned like my teenage self at a Bon Jovi concert. Together they were great!

Audio Thoughts:

Narrated By Phil Gigante / Length: 12 hrs and 38 mins

I love Phil but with this series he is always hit/miss for me. This time I just don’t think I could get into his voice for Airiana. He did Maxim fantastically but alas it just wasn’t my favorite narration of his. However, I will keep on with this in audio because he pulls the brothers off wonderfully.

Final Thoughts: Just found out it will be another year till the next one: counting down!

  1. It’s GREAT to know that finally a character is aware of her gifts! ^^ I keep reading books where MCs go through the phase of denial, incomprehension, isolation then acceptance. lol. Lovely review, glad it’s a good one. πŸ™‚

    Hhahah, I confirm I’m a shifter. ^^

  2. *runs and hugs you* Welcome back, I hope things are a little less cray-cray at work. I have been keeping up with your facebook statuses. This sounds like one I would enjoy, and I love that it was one of your favorites.

    • *huggles* It is still super crazy but I am trying to squeeze in some blog hopping and posting. We will see how it works! I worked 16 hours yesterday and I am feeling it today LOL Dang not being young anymore!

    • I have been reading her since the early 90s. My favorite series is the one this series spun off of and I would suggest reading it first. It was a series about 7 sisters who all had magical gifts: Drake Sisters (it ties in to this one in a unique way). I love her Carpathian series but the earlier books are very “alpha male” circa early 90s aka me man you girl type. I know some people just hate that so I always say that if you can read old school bodice rippers then they are good stories but if they bug you then skip them.

  3. I loved Phil’s narration of The Fever Series, but I realize I’ve never heard him do female voices, so I wonder how that would work for me. I’m definitely intrigued by this series and knowing that you’re adding it to your re-read pile is a definite motivator. Maybe I’ll wait a bit so I don’t have to wait a year for the next one πŸ™‚

    • He has been hit/miss with this series. I think book 2 he fit a little better but these guys are all Russian and it just sounds weird. Plus, his female voices are not my favorite.

  4. Great review Felicia! I also loved this one, but you know, with the audio books you miss out on the gorgeous hot stepcovers in the paperbacks … Surely top off Tuesday worthy.

  5. I have this one on my shelf Felicia but I’ve been hesitating just because I haven’t read the first two books and I wasn’t sure if I’d be lost or not starting with book three. It sounds like such a fantastic book though, and I’m glad to know it’s your favorite yet!!!

And can’t wait to see what you think of Fireborn!

    • You wouldn’t be lost but you might wonder about some of the things referenced. This is a series that builds on the last one.

I downloaded it yesterday. I have two in front of it but then I will listen πŸ™‚
