Audiobook Review: A Killer Plot by Ellery AdamsA Killer Plot by Ellery Adams
Length: 11 hrs and 6 mins

Date Read: January 2016

In the small coastal town of Oyster Bay, North Carolina, you'll find plenty of characters, ne'er-do-wells, and even a few celebs trying to duck the paparazzi. But when murder joins this curious community, the Bayside Book Writers are there to get the story...

Olivia Limoges is the subject of constant gossip. Ever since she came back to town-a return as mysterious as her departure-Olivia has kept to herself, her dog, and her unfinished novel. With a little cajoling from the eminently charming writer Camden Ford, she agrees to join the Bayside Book Writers, break her writer's block, and even make a few friends...
But when townspeople start turning up dead with haiku poems left by the bodies, anyone with a flair for language is suddenly suspect. And it's up to Olivia to catch the killer before she meets her own surprise ending.

First Thought when finished: Despite not liking Olivia for 1/2 of the book, A Killer Plot ended up being a totally enjoyable read!

Quick Thoughts: This is one of those series that I have a feeling will go down as one of my favorites even though it took me a bit to warm up. The 2nd half was just awesome. I finally was on board with all the characters. I like the pacing of the mystery. I even warmed up to Olivia who was a little bit hard to take at first. I love this little town and can’t wait to see what unfolds. I do have a strong opinion on who I want Olivia to develop a romantic attachment too: he doesn’t own a bookstore and does have a Hawaiian shirt. All in all a darn good read. Also this should appeal to those who love the whole “rich family” type of mysteries. These guys gave the Kardashians a run πŸ™‚

Audio Thoughts:

Narrated By Karen White / Length: 11 hrs and 6 mins

Karen did an excellent job. I started reading then switched to audio, I found out I was pronouncing names wrong again (I DO THIS ALL THE FREAKING TIME). However, I loved Karen’s Olivia and Rawlings. She just really drew me into the story πŸ™‚ So glad I have the next on audio!

Part of my Read It, Rate It, File It, DONE!

  1. A Hawaiian shirt you say? Intrigued! haha I love this sound of this mystery even though I’m typically not motivated to read cozy mysteries. The haiku killings are so fascinating to me! Really glad you liked this one even though the first part was bleh. That’s happened to me recently too with The Girl in 6E πŸ™‚

  2. I’ve read & loved many of her books, so I can’t believe I haven’ t started this series! I’m sure I have this one lost in a cozy TBR pile somewhere…

  3. I started out not liking Olivia much and I wasn’t a huge fan of this one but I liked her a lot more in A Deadly Cliche so she is growing on me. πŸ™‚ I hope she will grow on you as well. Karen White, it took me a while to get into her style of narration but I am warming up to her as well. She really is Olivia now that I have listened to the second book. πŸ™‚

    • I fell in love with Karen’s narration in the Animal Magnetism series. She really does have a wide range–she sounds different in everything I have heard her narrate πŸ™‚ I am thinking from this point out I will love Olivia–sometimes it takes me a bit πŸ™‚
