A Fool's Gold Christmas by Susan Mallery
Narrator: Tanya Eby
Length: 6 hrs and 36 mins
Date Read: November 2012
Genre: Contemporary, Romance

More Information:The unrelenting cheer in Fool's Gold, California, is bringing out the humbug in dancer Evie Stryker. She learned early on that Christmas miracles don't happen, at least not for her. And this year seems like no exception. An injury has forced her to return to the family fold, no matter that they're estranged. She won't add to the awkward scenario by being seduced by the bad-boy charms of her brother's best friend, the last man she should ever want to date. Even when she's recruited to stage the Fool's Gold winter festival, she vows to do as promised, then move forward with her life anywhere but here.
Jaded lawyer Dante Jefferson is getting used to the backwater town he now reluctantly calls home, but the pounding of little dancers' feet above his temporary office is more than any man should have to take! When he confronts their gorgeous teacher, he's unprepared for the attraction that sears him down to the soul. Evie is his best friend's sister--off-limits unless he's willing to risk his heart. Dante has always believed that love is the most dangerous force in the universe, but that was before he had to reckon with the magic of a certain small town, where miracles do seem to happen..

Part of my 25 Books for the Holiday for 2012
How this put me in the Holiday Spirit: A Fool’s Gold Christmas by Susan Mallery is one of those books that remind you that family, friends, and community are the important reasons for the season. Susan embraces that concept in every Fool’s Gold novel but the Christmas ones are the best!
What I thought of the characters/storyline: A Fool’s Gold Christmas was a story of forgiveness at its heart! I thought there were some great moments of compassion, willingness to forgive, and growing up. I know some people had a problem with how quick Evie was to forgive but I thought it was appropriate. She had been angry for a long time and sometimes you have to “choose” to let it go for your sake as well as those you are angry at. The romance between Dante and Evie wasn’t my favorite part of the story but I did like them together. I loved the story for the family and town dynamics though! It will rank high on my favorites for the Fool’s Gold series.
What I thought of the audio: I think Tanya Eby is growing on me. She did a fantastic job with all the gal’s voices in A Fool’s Gold Christmas (she does every time). Her pacing was excellent and her nuances were spot on. I do feel that her male voices are getting better as she goes along. They still aren’t my favorite but not as distracting as before.

This sounds like a great read. I really should try audio books again too. In the past, I have tried them with literary fiction and just had a horrible time following along. Maybe it would work better for me with a romance. I need a little something to put me in the mood for the holidays. Thanks for your review.
This was a good FG novel. One of my favorites. Glad you enjoyed it too 🙂
Nice review Felicia, I have this series on my wishlist.
It is a sweet series 🙂 They are very feel good!
I had no idea you read Mallery!!! You are just all over the place with your reading – I love it!!!! I get her newsletters b/c she’s just too darn sweet of an author but I think after your vote, I’ll actually make room for a book of hers. We all need to challenge ourselves to read different things!!
I am such a moody reader that I pretty much read anything my mood dictates! I love Mallery, she is such a good writer with a wonderful setting for this series 🙂
Though I haven’t read any Mallery, I could imagine that she really makes you want to go hug and be with your family.
I do like the trend to 2 narrators to deal with those pesky gender impersonation issues.
She does! She makes you want to spend a lot of time with your family and then makes you feel fine that sometimes they get on your nerves LOL
Mallery always provides memorable characters and a heartwarming storyline. Awesome review!
She does! She almost always delivers 🙂
I love this idea and I am going to be sure to do holiday reads next year as they are usually warm feel good books. I am in such a reading rut lately. I need sweet and fluffy. Luckily I have scheduled some holiday reads next week.
Sweet and Fluffy is perfect for the holiday season. I am glad you are going to squeeze in some Holiday reads 🙂
I like that she is getting better in narration. I still need to read one of Mallery’s books…
I think I get used to certain narrators after a few books!
Some narrators are like that for me too. At first I’m not sure but they grow on me.
It takes a few books for some narrators that I think are just ok. They do grow on me though 🙂
