Hi Y’all! It is November and I am bringing back #30DaysOfThanks for Year 3 aka #30DaysOfThanks2014. I had so much fun doing this last 2 years that I thought I would recycle the program again this year.

Book: Fall of Night by Jonathan Maberry

Fall Of Night by Jonathan Maberry

This is a rare series where both books 1 and 2 got 5’s from me! I LURVE it!

The sequel to Dead of Night, bringing back beloved characters Desdamona Fox and Billy Trout as they race against time to quarantine a zombie epidemic while caught in a military strike…

Stebbins Little School is full of bodies. It’s unthinkable to Desdemona Fox. Children are sobbing as panicked teachers and neighbors beat down their family members outside of the school…or the things that used to be their family members. Parents don’t eat their children do they?

Officers Fox and Hammond, along with journalist Billy Trout, are calling it the beginning of the end. This is the zombie apocalypse. An insane escaped serial killer is infecting Stebbins County with a deadly virus, and now the whole world is watching while Fox, Trout, and the remaining inhabitants of Stebbins fight for their life against…what? The undead? The President and the National Guard are ready to nuke Stebbins, PA off the map and cut their losses. But the infection is spreading and fast. Worse, the scientist who created the virus is missing. It’s a numbers game as the body count rises; Fox has to contain the infected and evacuate the living before it’s too late, and the clock is ticking…

Fall of Night, Maberry’s nail-biting sequel to Dead of Night, picks up where the first novel left offβ€”on a wild goose chase for a mad man and the missing scientist who gave him new “un”-life. Chilling, gory, and hair-raisingly scary, Maberry fans won’t be able to read this fast-paced thriller with the lights off.

What can I say: This girl is awesome! Not only did she make one of the best costumes I have ever had (White Trash Zombie Waitress) but she gets my love ofΒ  Zombies! She is just a fantastic friend, great blogger, and jewelry maker! Go show her some love!

Narrator: Ray Porter

Some of the things I have listened to read by him:

  • Joe Ledger series by Jonathan Maberry
  • Four Summoner’s Tales by Various Authors

Some of the things on my wishlist:

  • Hell House by Richard Matheson
  • The Incrementalists by Steven Brust, Skyler White

This year Fantasy is More Fun & Because Reading are doing a Month of Giving Thanks giving you a chance to participate. You should take them up on the opportunity!

NOTE: This year I switched it up a bit for the first 12 days: I will highlight one book from 2014 that really stuck with me (each book scored a 4.75 or 5 from me), one narrator that landed on my must listen list, and one blogger that I am thankful for! For days 13 to 30 I will highlight either 2 bloggers and 1 narrator OR 2 narrators and 1 blogger. These are not in any particular order and by no means is 30 going to cover everyone that I love. In fact this year in both the narrator and blogger categories I had way over 30 (Yet with books I only had 12 “new to me this year” reads that ranked above a 4.75).Β  Narrowing narrators/bloggers down broke my heart so I am changing the format a bit! Hopefully, I can squeeze in everyone I want too!

  1. Pam IS amazing! Even more amazing, she has no clue how awesome she is. You and Pam are two of the biggest blogger influences in my life- you for audiobooks, and Pam for horror. I think the three of us should get together and rule the world as a Triumvirate, but unfortunately I’m a little too lazy for world domination.

  2. I like zombies but not all kind of zombies… but I have heard great things about Jonathan Mayberry’s books… so maybe.
Blogger and narrator are new to me. Thank you for introducing them. πŸ™‚

  3. These are three brand new choices for me, but you can bet I’ll be checking them out. I’m really trying to expend my listens outside the romance genre (I’m finding it more and more difficult to be please… And I’m easy to please) and the first book fits that goal very well.
    Thanks Felicia πŸ™‚

    • These are really intense. My worst case scenario should I ever get turned into a zombie. That being said, the people (just like walking dead) are really where the meat of the story is!

  4. He does have a good narrating voice. πŸ™‚ I’m not a zombie fan but I wonder if I might like them if someone reads them to me…lol. πŸ™‚

    • If you aren’t a huge zombie fan but are willing to give the genre a try the Joe Ledger series is perfect for that. They are more like Jason Bourne takes on Fringe Science type of stories. They are fantastic πŸ™‚

  5. Zombies are a new, developing love for me. I’m just not a fan of blood and gore, so it took me a while to embrace them. I do want to read this series though, seeing as you enjoyed books 1&2 so much! I think both blogger and narrator are new to me too! Time to go exploring πŸ™‚

    • I would actually suggest you start with his YA series: Rot & Ruin even though in the timeline they fall after this one. All 3 series can be read independent of each other. AKA: I read Rot & Ruin then Joe Ledger then this one then back to JL then back to RR then back to JL. He is through writing RR but JL and this one are still on going πŸ™‚ Did I confuse you yet? LOL

  6. PAM!!! I <3 Pam :-)) She's the best & you picked the perfect book to pair with her int his feature.

My hubby is a huge Jonathan Mayberry fan.
