Month of Thanks

Hi Y’all! It is November and I am bringing back the Month of Thanks. I had so much fun doing this last year that I thought I would recycle the program again this year.   Each day I will highlight one book from 2013 that really stuck with me and one blogger (and their awesomeness) that I am thankful for! These are not in any particular order and by no means is 30 going to cover everyone (or books) that I love.

Never Seduce a Scot by Maya Banks

Listened for Armchair Audies (Audible)
Overall Rating: 5.00
Story Rating: 5.00
Character Rating: 5.00

Audio Rating: 3.50 (not part of the overall rating)

First Thought When Finished: I loved this book from beginning to end. Leading ladies with fire and sass are always my favorite!

Why I Loved Never Seduce a Scot: I am a sucker for romances that involve unusual leading characters. In this case, Eveline is deaf. I love how this plays into the story and how she uses it to her advantage. The story never tries to discount her disability and instead weaves it into every aspect of her daily life.

Best Thing about Her: She is totally funny and brilliant!  She is that girl!

What I *heart* about her: Amanda and I have been friends since way back.  I love her humor, her fun, and her support of those around her.  She is a brilliant blogger (go check out The Path of Least Revision) and offers up lots of great tips.  She also has a heart of gold and isn’t afraid to share knowledge. She is just fantastic.

Why you should follow her:  Did I mention her humor?  If not how about her tips & tricks?  How about she is one of the original creators of Top Off Tuesday? How about she is the creator (along with Kelly who is coming up in a few weeks for this) of Bout-Of-Books read-a-thon!

  1. Maya Banks is an author who I haven’t read yet *ducks* I know, I know… but really… so many books, so little time? I know it’s not a great excuse, but it’s the only one I’ve got.

Now Amanda, I know and love 😉 She’s an amazing go-getter and a great motivator. Her energy and enthusiasm is contagious. She’s also an instigator of shenanigans, but that’s a whole other story <3

  2. I love Maya Banks’ historicals, but I just don’t like reading about heroines with a handicap. It is easier if it is the hero.

  3. I think it is fantastic you are doing something like this. With so many books and bloggers, it is inevitable I will miss cool ones. I like the KGI series but I was only vaguely aware that Banks had another going. On to my TBR pile 🙂

  4. I think it is fantastic that you are doing something like this as with so many books and bloggers out there, it is inevitable that I will miss cool ones. I like Maya Banks’ KGI series but I was only vaguely aware that she had another series going. Onto my TBR pile it goes.

    • Oh I love the KGI series and this one is just as good. Very different but good! She writes historicals in ways that make you swoon. Reminds me I am two behind on the KGI series.

  5. Amanda rocks. So do you! And you know I can never pass up a hot Scotsman…especially if he’s wearing a kilt. *drool*

  6. I loooved everything about this audiobook! I absolutely loved the narrator, I see she didn’t do it for you. I never read this one, so my experience was strictly from a listener’s point of view…LOL…That’s just me, trying to make excuses why she didn’t get 5 from you. This was my top listen for 2012.

  7. ahh yes Amanda, doesn’t she do that time rewind meme on Sundays as well? I picked up a Maya Banks book based on your review and Jenny’s I am looking forward to reading it. I have cleaned up my calendar and 2014 is my TBR year!

  8. I don’t read much historical romance but you may have sold me on this one! And I love the On a Book Bender blog! I’ve gotten great blog tips from reading her posts!

  9. I love unusual main characters in romances. Sometimes it irks me when characters are pretty much beautiful and perfect. It gets annoying after a while.

And I like this spotlight thing you’re doing. It’s been helping me find new bloggers to follow. ^_^

  10. Hey! HEY! I like both Amanda and Never Seduce a Scot, TOO! IT’S LIKE WE’RE TWINS OR SOMETHING!

*glomps all over you and your blog and the things you’re thankful for*

  11. So glad you loved Never Seduce a Scot Felicia! Maya Banks writes the best highlander romances I think, I couldn’t love that series or the one before it (I can’t remember the series name, there were 3 brothers) any more if I tried:)

AND I ADORE AMANDA!!!! She is awesome and never fails to make me laugh on a daily basis. You guys and your top off Tuesdays also completely make my day every single week. <3<3<3

  12. It makes me happy to be paired with Maya Banks. *FLAILS ALL OVER YOU*

*HUGS* Felicia, you rock. And I’m also incredibly thankful for YOU. This blogging thing wouldn’t be the same without you.

  13. This is great Felicia. I love that you are giving thanks AND learning more about some great bloggers. Hope you will stop by my Small Victories Sunday linky and share a couple of your posts with me and my readers.
