Month of Thanks

Hi Y’all! It is November and I am bringing back the Month of Thanks. I had so much fun doing this last year that I thought I would recycle the program again this year.   Each day I will highlight one book from 2013 that really stuck with me and one blogger (and their awesomeness) that I am thankful for! These are not in any particular order and by no means is 30 going to cover everyone (or book) that I love.

Nearly Departed in Deadwood by Ann Charles

Read/Listened for Fun (Kindle/Audible)
Overall Rating: 4.50
Story Rating: 4.75
Character Rating: 4.25

Audio Rating: 4.50 (not part of the overall rating)

First Thought when Finished: Nearly Departed in Deadwood is a seriously fun cozy mystery that had me giggling, gasping, and growling (in a good way)!

What I Loved: They mystery is strong in Nearly Departed in Deadwood, grasshoppers! Ann Charles knows how to write a twisty mystery that will keep you guessing. In true Jessica Fletcher style (which is the bar I hold all cozy mysteries too) knocks out suspects as she goes. I love when an author lines up your suspects and then slowly knocks them down!

My Bookish Ways

Today you get 2 bloggers!

What I like best about Vampire Book Club & My Bookish Ways: Between the two of them they read everything that I do–mysteries, romance, thrillers, paranormal! How can I not love that?!?!

What I *heart* about Vampire Book Club & My Bookish Ways: They have fantastic content ranging from interviews to reviews.  I love how My Bookish Ways really highlights the gritty side of writing! She is my go to person for Horror, UF, and Suspense.  If I am looking for something a bit on the darker side I hit her up.  I love the community that Vampire Book Club has built.  It really is a place where readers can go and feel comfortable chatting.  I love reading the comments in reviews because her readers really interact well!

Why you should follow My Bookish Ways: She is probably (outside of Midnyte Reader) the only place to get a really good collection of reviews on horror and suspense that I know of and her reviews are fantastic!

Why you should follow Vampire Book Club: The community she has built is fantastic!  Let’s get real though: Alpha Showdown!  Enough said!

Every time I read one your reviews of a non-romance book I feel the need to go outside my box. I can imagine how a mystery book can be a really enjoyable listening experience… Again, I need to look pass the romance genre.
I love the Alpha contest they hold over at the Vampire Book Club. I love following them too 🙂

How ironic is this? I’ve been MIA for a long time and when I read your post, I’m mentioned…so nice. But yes, it’s hard to find other bloggers who love horror like I do. I always listen to My Bookish Ways…she is awesome and writes fabulous reviews. I will have to pay more attention to Vampire Book Club. The book you mentioned sounds cute. Glad you got to listen to something for fun.
