Simply Irresistible by Jill Shalvis
Narrator: Celeste Ciulla
Date Read: December 2012
Genre: Contemporary, Romance

More Information:Maddie Moore's whole life needs a makeover.
In one fell swoop, Maddie loses her boyfriend (her decision) and her job (so not her decision). But rather than drowning her sorrows in bags of potato chips, Maddie leaves L.A. to claim the inheritance left by her free-spirited mother—a ramshackle inn nestled in the little coastal town of Lucky Harbor, Washington.
Starting over won't be easy. Yet Maddie sees the potential for a new home and a new career—if only she can convince her two half-sisters to join her in the adventure. But convincing Tara and Chloe will be difficult because the inn needs a big makeover too.
The contractor Maddie hires is a tall, dark-haired hottie whose eyes—and mouth—are making it hard for her to remember that she's sworn off men. Even harder will be Maddie's struggles to overcome the past, though she's about to discover that there's no better place to call home than Lucky Harbor.

Part of my 25 Books for the Holidays for 2012
How Simply Irresistible put me in the Holiday Spirit: I love stories about sisters and them coming together for the Holidays! Also I love books that spread the Mistletoe liberally and Simply Irresistible did just that 🙂
What I thought of characters/story: Simply Irresistible was such a fun read. I laughed out loud at times and wanted to bear hug the sisters at other times. This was just a wonderful character driven story with a hot romance between Maddie and Jax. Can I just say that Jax was a wonderful leading man: giving, caring, but with a past that he needs to work through. More importantly, he was the first to “get it” where he and Maddie were concerned. I love Maddie but her past was a little more to work through so I am glad it took her longer to get there. I loved the sisters and can’t wait to read their stories and I think Lucky Harbor will be a place that I will love. As I know that I am one of the last to start this series, I am sorry it took me so long!
What I thought of the audio: This wasn’t my favorite Audiobook but it wasn’t horrible. The narrator, Celeste Ciulla, did a decent job with the female voices but she was way off with the males. The pacing was excellent and her voice was very clear. Her voices may not bother others as much as they bothered me. My suggestion is to listen to a sample first to determine for yourself.

I really want to read a Lisa Kleypas book, maybe I should check out this one! I think I have All I Want for Christmas Is A Duke, but now I can’t remember….
I need Christmas Spirit in my life. Lucky Harbor…I am most definitely headed your way.
Thanks for the fab narrator notes as always 🙂
Love these holiday mini reviews. My holiday reading has been slow going so far but I’m hoping to sneak in a few this week. Simply Irresistible is one I have on my kindle, and Twas the Night & Deck The Halls sound appealing to me too. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on these!
Considering I picked up Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor from audible this week, I’m glad you enjoyed it 🙂 I have All I Want for Christmas is a Duke on my review list and plan to read it this weekend, I’m looking forward to it. Cheers for books that put you more in the holiday spirit– Book Savvy Babe
I want to read them all, except for the Lisa Kleypas book, which I have read twice already. You know it is made into a Hallmark movie? Christmas with Holly. Glad you enjoyed it Felicia.
I read Deck The Hall, I enjoyed some of the stories from that one 🙂 have not yet read the rest
Oooo yes I discovered Jill Shalvis and Lisa Kleypas this year too! I’ve only read Lisa’s historical romances and I absolutely ADORED them, I think you’d enjoy them as well Felicia! I need to get caught up on the Lucky Harbor books, I’ve read the first three and need to read the newer ones!
I agree that Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor was rushed. Makes me wonder why she didn’t make it a longer novel. Loved Reinfield!
Looks like you had a fun run of books! All of them sound great — I really like a second-chance romance, too. Gonna have to check it out.
Wow, you have to read so fast! Lovely books. 🙂
I usually try to read a few holiday themed books every year but I just haven’t had time :-((( I should remedy this with at least a few novellas if I can’t find time for a full length book.
Love the mini reviews!
I am so impressed that you are keeping up with this challenge and there have been so many good holiday reads for you. I am looking hard at Twas the Night After Christmas. Thanks for the fun month of holiday reads!
I’ve read a Jeffries historical romance and enjoyed it. I also need to read Shavis. Hm… you might yet get me to read a holiday one…
