Book Blogger Hop — June 11, 2010

Happy Friday, hoppers! It’s that time again — the Book Blogger Hop is hosted every week by Jennifer over at Crazy-for-Books, and it’s basically the best way I know to find new blogs and make new friends in this giant bookish corner of the internet. If you’re new here, hi! Welcome! Pull up a chair and please ignore the cat hair on it.

This Week’s Question

“How many books do you have on your nightstand right now?”

Oh no. Oh no no no. This is a personal attack, Jennifer. I see what you’re doing.

My Honest Answer

Okay, deep breath. The official count on the actual surface of the nightstand: seven. But that doesn’t include the stack on the floor next to the nightstand, which is technically a structural support beam at this point and probably another ten books. And then there’s the ARC pile in the closet, but that’s a problem for Future Me.

The current rotation up top:

  1. A romance I’m halfway through and loving
  2. A YA paranormal that I keep meaning to start
  3. A nonfiction about Tudor England I’ve been “reading” since March
  4. Two library books that are somehow already overdue
  5. A re-read because comfort books are necessary
  6. A review book due to the publisher in two weeks (eep)

How I Got Here

In my defense, I have zero impulse control at the library, my mailbox keeps producing review copies like it’s a magic hat, and I genuinely believe I will read all of them eventually. That’s not a lie I tell myself. That’s a goal. There is a difference. (Is there? My husband says no. My husband is wrong.)

How about you? How many are on YOUR nightstand? Leave a link to your hop post and I will absolutely come visit and peek at your stack. No judgment here — only solidarity and possibly some recommendations to make your pile worse. Happy hopping!
